Positive Talk:  Value and Importance of Human Relationships.
"Kids don't learn from people they don't like".  Let your kids know you like them.  "You were chosen to be in my class." Motto for her students:   "I am somebody when I came.  I will be a better somebody when I leave."  Rita PiersonBe a champion for our students.  Creating a positive environment as well as extinguishing negative talk are part of the Marzano evaluation tool.

Attaining Learning Outcomes = Higher Achievement

  • Monday - First day of new quarter.  Everyone starts with a clean slate.  Sign up for Fall Intersession Professional Development.  A stipend of $28.00 an hour will be paid.  If you plan on attending you must sign up.  Turn in Coat a Kid if you have a student you believe needs a warm winter coat.  Check your email.  I forwarded it from Amanda Pina.

Marzano:  Displaying Objectivity and Control:  Daily reflection about consistency when enforcing positive and negative consequences to determine if a balance between the two was obtained. If not, further reflection may be necessary on opportunities to better exhibit consistent objectivity in the future.  Interpreting Communication Styles • Watch students during interactions to verify reactions and demeanor do not demonstrate personal offense. Active Listening and Speaking • Interact with students to confirm tone of voice, body language, paraphrasing, and feedback to create an atmosphere of cooperation. Self-Reflection • Listen for student responses that indicate both negative and positive consequences are enforced fairly and consistently in the classroom.

FERPA:  Some information should never be shared without parental consent because of a Federal law more commonly known as FERPA.  Students and or their families should never be discussed in the front office or in the hallways.  The front office is a place of business and has many people coming in and out including students, guardians, other teachers, and community members.
Be a champion for our students.  Creating a positive environment as well as extinguishing negative talk are part of the Marzano evaluation tool.
Please be sure you put your comments on the Marzano video at the end of the blog as well as on the discussion board in I-Observation.  Informal evaluations will continue next week.  Remember ALL informal evaluations count and walk-throughs do not count.

Shout Outs:
Ms. Barnett, Ms. Ferguson and Ms. Ivie all had  Donor's Choose projects funded this week! If you need help writing a Donor's Choose project we have some very talented writers in the building.
