Think Thru Math has a contest just for OKCPS!  Between March 1 – March 31 any OKCPS class that has an average of 4 passed lessons per student will be entered into a drawing to win a pizza party.  Two classes will be selected.

Please encourage your students to work hard to pass 4 TTM lessons by the end of the month. That’s just 1 lesson per week! Even though they will be on Spring Break two of those weeks, please remind them they can work on it at home too. (Previous work does not count toward the contest. Only work done from March 1-31st).

Let’s make both those parties go to Coolidge students!

Monday March 7 - Intersession
Tuesday March 8 - Intersession
Wednesday March 9 - Intersession
March 14 - March 18  Spring Break

Monday March 21 school resumes

Technology:
Please remember to monitor your students when they are using technology.  I have found pencil marks on ChromeBook screens, we have had one ChromeBook with a cracked screen, labels being removed, etc.  In the computer lab students are not using the mice correctly.

3rd - 6th Grade:  Think Thru Math:  Please assign TEST PREP for your students.  This will help prepare them for the OCCT.

As Spring quickly approaches, we know state testing is on your mind. To help with that, Think Through Math has an Oklahoma test prep pathway for each grade level! Each test prep pathway is between 20-30 lessons and focuses on the heavily tested concepts. This is a great review for your students.
To assign test prep, click on the Classes tab and then Current Students. Select the check mark boxes to the left of the students’ names and then click the blue Assign Pathway button at the top of the page. From there, filter by your grade level and Oklahoma and click on Search. Select the test prep pathway and click Enroll. Your students will have more than one pathway, so just let them know you want them working on the test prep pathway.
Our Standards Report goes along nicely with the test prep pathways. After your students complete the test prep, please review the Standards Report to see which standards are highest and weakest for your classes. From there, you can assign some of our shorter, domain pathways to remediate weak areas or pull up a lesson on your board through the Preview An Activity button (under the Content tab) to cover it as a whole class.
Remember the goal is for each student to pass 30 lessons. By now, students need to have a minimum of 15-20 lessons passed. If they are slightly behind, the test prep pathway can help them catch up!
We encourage you to take advantage of these test prep pathways to help prepare for state testing. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Alli Yeager

Feb 15 - 19

Our Mission:  “Educate students for lifelong learning and responsible living.”
Our Vision:  “Provide a learning environment that promotes and develops academic and
social growth.”

Thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes.  It is great to have a wonderful Coolidge family.  The cards, flowers, balloons, and well wishes were greatly appreciated.  I am truly blessed to work with such wonderful people.

Positive School/Classroom Environment:

Narrate the positive - describe what students are doing well.
Give the students a simple challenge to complete a task.  "Our last center transition took 45 seconds.  I bet you can do even better this time."  Ms. Ivie has incorporated a "table gem" that she is using to help encourage transition and clean up time in kindergarten.
Given an instruction, narrate the positive, then redirect student who is not complying using the least invasive possible.  (Examples:  proximity, nonverbal, eye contact, students name, small consequence)

Week At A Glance:
  • Your are expected to be in the gym for Rise N Shine at 8:00 a.m.  Please be respectful to your teammates by being on time.
  • Monday 2-15  NO SCHOOL - Professional Development.  Please be sure you have signed up on Generation Ready for New Teacher Training at NW Classen or the Coolidge PBIS/Behaviors.
  • Tuesday 2-16  Edusoft Benchmark window opens.
  • Wednesday 2-17  Great Expectations Toni here  6+1 Writing Workshop  Self Discipline Awards are due.
  • Thursday 2-18 Great Expectations Toni here
  • Friday 2-19 If you want to wear jeans everyday next week for Jump rope for Heart please give your $10.00 to Coach Barton.
  • Ms. Keys class will lead Rise N Shine.  Word of the Week Self-Discipline.  Self-discipline awards will be given out Friday.  Be sure to turn these into Ms. Ozoyca by Wednesday.
Great Expectations Practice #17  Educators and learners celebrate the success of others and PBIS use the praise, encouragement and affirmations to bolster student morale and motivate.  A strategy would be to target positive feedback to match students' needs.  Sometimes we have to coach students in appreciating others and n acknowledging others' accomplishments.  As adults we must model what we expect from students.

Looking Ahead:
Feb 23rd:  5th Grade State Writing Test
Feb 26th:  Thunder Bus

Please review the state testing PowerPoint concerning procedures for the tests that was sent my email on 2.10.16.
