Welcome Back from Spring Break!
I hope everyone had a restful Spring Break and came back ready to work together to get ready for state testing in April. We have a very short window on testing - All of 3rd grade reading and all tests in 5th grade must be complete by April 12th. It is going to take everyone working together to make this happen.
Monday -
Tuesday - PLC Meetings. Teachers Meeting: State Testing Training After School. Ms. Brett - Certified in library, Ms. Huggins - Assistants in Instructional Coach Office.
Wednesday - All Informal Observations Due.
Thursday - Smart Start
Friday -
There will be MANY IEP and 504 meetings this week as we work toward having as much done as possible prior to the potential walk out.

Wonderful Staff,
I
hope you are enjoying your spring break. In regards to the March 27th
AFT Activities and April 2-5th Teacher Walkout, I have received
protocol procedures from our district today. First and foremost, please
know that I support your efforts to increase funding for teachers and
education. I support the walkout, but want to make sure you are aware of
the proper procedures.
1. March 26th: Nonperishable meals will be
sent home with every child in case we need to cancel classes on March 27th
as a district (or use during April 2-5th). Please make sure
every child has one when they leave on Monday, March 26th.
2. March 27th: Teachers, I should have
received an approval from AFT that you are approved for Union Leave in order
for you to go to the Capitol on this day. I have not received any emails
as of today. It
can be unpaid leave, unless I get an approval email from AFT.
Teachers, please let me
know ASAP if you are planning to be gone on this date so we can make alterative
plans. Please refer to 3-14-2018 email from Mary
Best (i.e.: March 27th – Teacher Tuesday at the
Capitol. Email Mary at mary@okcaft.org
if interested as soon as possible. Union leave will be
provided.). {FYI: If more than 20% of teacher are out, classes
can be canceled, and this missed day will be counted as one of our snow
days. So we would need to make up time from April 5th and
beyond if that instructional day is canceled.}
3. April 2-5th, 2018 Walkout days: Students and teachers will not
need to make up these days, as they are built into our calendar as snow days
(pending we are in session on March 27th). Classes are canceled,
but our district is not closed. Support staff must come to
work on April 2-5th, according to Support CBA. Teachers,
I must receive AFT
approval for union leave in order for you to go to the capitol on these dates.
If you are not going to the Capitol, you will report to Coolidge to fulfill your contract.

If
you go to the Capitol,
you must sign-in on
AFT, OEA, or POE union sign-in sheets on these dates. Union Leave and
possible personal business can be used with prior approval. Unpaid leave
means you have not followed the correct protocol, so please let me know what
your plans are in an email.
4. The district will have 180 distribution sites for
student to get lunches, and this information will be sent out to parents
after spring break.
Coolidge cafeteria staff
is to report to Child Nutritional Services during the April 2-5th walkout. Bus
drivers will report to the bus barn to deliver these meals at distribution
sites.
5. April 6th & 9th: If we are still out, our
district will close and no one is allowed to report to work. We will need
to add these 2 days to the end of this school year.
6. April 9th to April
16th:
The district has stated OKCPS will add 2 days to the end of this school year, and
add additional minutes to our instructional day to make up our missed time.
7. April 17th and
beyond:
If we are still out, district leaders have said they will need to go to the
school board in order to change our current school year calendar, to extend
classes into June to make up instructional time. Graduation ceremonies will
continue as scheduled, but class time will still need to be made up in order to
receive diplomas.
8. OSDE will determine what Oklahoma
will do if we are not able to test students during the testing window.
Again,
I support you and the efforts of the walkout. We just need to work together.

Coolidge Elementary Academic Goals for 2017- 2018
- All Students WILL achieve academically.
- Reading: Increase reading proficiency by at least one grade level, and know their current F & P level.
- Math: Increase math achievement by 10% with 80% mastery of math facts on grade level.
- Writing: Increase writing proficiency by 15%
- Student Attendance: Increase student attendance to 98%.
- Increase Faculty Attendance to 98%
